Amazingly, last Saturday, a full 6 days before Christmas, I finished Christmas shopping for my family of. . . oh, about 100. Okay, so it's only the 8 kids, one d-i-law, two of the older kids longtime boyfriend/girlfriend, two nieces, and two parents. But, still. Got'er done!
Typically I'm still shopping on Christmas Eve -- or at last our Christmas Eve which is always December 23rd. Then I'm up till 3 a.m. on the 24th -- our Christmas Day -- wrapping. Seeing as how the kids wake at 5 a.m. and then I make a huge breakfast including snowflake and reindeer shaped pancakes, I was typically a zombie on Christmas. And slightly grumpy. And not at all in the Christmas spirit.
This year I'm hoping it'll be different. Because I started wrapping yesterday (got 70 gifts wrapped so far!!) it's looking good. Might even be able to spend Christmas Eve making cookies and watching movies with the kids, instead of being locked in my bedroom, hunched over paper and tape.
